![]() CA teased and stated about the northern barbarians expansion is “coming” along with intentionally having the map include korea as an obvious future dlc yet neither came. of those 3 kingdoms, one is incredibly broken in the hands of the AI, one has near no mechanics, and the last one has no enemies near them so their campaign consists of recolonizing the entire south.įrom a gameplay point, promised things were never delivered. :)įrom a history point, the game is unfinished as there is no actual starting date of the official period where the 3 kingdoms are actually 3 kingdoms. As are all the answers you're about to receive. So I think they're trying to reimagine what a Total War: 3K game that is playable in 182, 190, 194, 200, and beyond would look like.īut that's just speculation on my part. At the very least, the thought of moving towards progressively fewer and fewer factions over time didn't thrill me, based on what Fates Divided showed me. I have no idea what it's going to be but I would guess a pretty substantial rework of the entire system (Fates Divided really showed the limitations of the current system once you get down to just a few factions - no generals to hire, no diplomacy to conduct, no trade deals available, etc., etc.). Something so major it required them to stop working on 3K1 to focus entirely on 3K2. That'd be the logical answer - something different enough that they won't be accused of just re-releasing the same game, or accused of just doing a minor upgrade to it. But given it wouldn't make sense for them to just re-release the game with a cosmetic makeover (for both the reasons you laid out), my educated guess is. Again, we can't answer it since we don't know what 3K2 is going to be - we don't know if it'll be something similar to 3K1 or something quite different. Or both could be wrong I guess, but I doubt both are true. or (b) they aren't going to just release the same thing but with shinier pixels or something cosmetic like that. via an investor's call where they have to be truthful or run afoul of stock market regulators). In other words, I think one of the assumptions you outline is wrong: either (a) 3K1 didn't have the problems many people say they had (I've heard a ton of comments about this in forums but have never seen CA comment themselves on it, e.g. (While people don't always behave logically, assuming they will behave logically is not a bad place to start from when making speculative guesses, which is what we're doing here) So I would take that fact - i.e., that it'd be stupid of CA to do - as a good sign that what you've outlined probably isn't correct. that 3K1 had ABC problems, so they bailed and are just going to try it again in a few years in 3K2 - would indeed be pretty stupid. The simple fact is that we know next to nothing about 3K2, so it's hard to answer your question(s), but I'll take a shot:įor your first question, the situation you outline - i.e. Think we missed one?
